
Amber provides fund development support for GPG clients, including project management, grant proposal development, funding opportunity research and monitoring, bid/no-bid decision making, and training. Amber draws on her previous project management and grant writing experience from her roles as a nonprofit consultant, humane society executive director, and school administrative specialist.
She has developed competitive grant applications to federal, state, and private foundation funders in a variety of issue areas, including public infrastructure, mental health, workforce development, domestic violence prevention and victim services, neighborhood safety and reentry services, early childhood education, and immigrant and refugee services.
This work has included:
- Over $145 million in child welfare and health-related funding, including $67.7M for behavioral health in Sonoma County, $56.6M for childcare subsidies to Hively, and $3.9M for trauma recovery and youth homeless services at Restorative Pathways.
- Support for education initiatives through a $1.5M Google.org grant for AI learning communities, $10.7M for Head Start services, and $4.5M in Measure K funding for teacher training.
- $10M+ for reentry and community development services, including $9M to Rubicon for workforce development and over $1M to Men and Women of Purpose for mentoring and innovative reentry programs.
- Ongoing support for Head Start / Early Head Start and other applications for Izzi Early Education to provide child development and support services to children (ages 0-5) and their families across San Mateo County.
- Development of grant opportunity bid / no-bid training materials to assist nonprofit organizations and local government departments in vetting potential grant funding opportunities and assessing whether to invest consultant and/or staff resources in a particular funding opportunity.
Outside of work, Amber enjoys mountain biking, family trips, and trail running with her dog.
