Welcome to Our New Website!

It’s been a busy beginning of the year for Glen Price Group. We are excited to share some client work and successes since our last update in January and our new website. Please take a moment to explore and connect with us via Facebook and Twitter!

Strategic planning work

The  California Comprehensive Early Learning Plan (CCELP), which GPG helped develop and was published last summer, has become a “north star” for the early education field in the state. Its recommendations in four key areas informed successful advocacy efforts that led to the recent and historic state budget investment in quality improvement and access to the highest need children.

GPG facilitated the Californians Dedicated to Education Foundation (CDEF) Board Retreat in March to help prioritize projects and opportunities for the upcoming year. The retreat was extremely successful, bringing together a very busy board and helping board members to build a stronger sense of team and alignment with goals and strategies for CDEF.

GPG organized and supported a study visit of the Ontario Education system for a delegation of education leaders from across California. GPGers Glen and Caitlin accompanied the group to (freezing) Toronto, Canada in late February where they met with various representatives from the Ontario Ministry of Education and the Ontario Teachers Federation. The main purpose of this trip was to learn how the Ontario Ministry of Education has promulgated systems that model and support local engagement, decision-making, and capacity building and learn how insights from the Ontario visit may contribute to California’s implementation of key initiatives including those emanating from CDE’s Blueprint for Great Schools and Greatness by Design. Huge thanks to the Stuart Foundation for supporting this exciting opportunity!

GPG has also started strategic planning with:

  • WestEd to bring together statewide initiatives on early childhood issues through the Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems project
  • the Early Education and Support Division at the California Department of Education (CDE)
  • CDE to support its Whole Child Integration Action Team.

Successful grant proposals

The Behavioral Health Division of the Department of Health Services of Sonoma County will receive $3,044,364 over 3½-years from California’s Investment in Mental Health Wellness Act of 2013 funding. This grant award will increase the number of mental health triage personnel serving Sonoma County expanding its service area to cover:

  • An additional 106,000 persons in southern Sonoma County through its Mobile Support Team; and
  • Three additional school districts through an enhanced the Crisis Assessment, Prevention and Education (CAPE) Team.

The City of Richmond Employment and Training will receive $770,000 from the California Employment Development Department to help retrain long-term unemployed and recently discharged veterans. Training assistance will be geared toward re-employment in key industries in high-demand occupations. These include: building trades, health-related professions, information technology, and warehousing/transportation/logistics.

The Californians Dedicated to Education Foundation received almost $198,000 from the Stuart Foundation to improve education through more collaborative labor-management relations in school districts across the state through its California Labor Management Initiative.

The Mission Neighborhood Center was awarded $4M from the Administration for Children and Families to expand its Head Start and Early Head Start programs and services and help prepare more of San Francisco’s highest need children birth through age 5 for kindergarten success.

San Mateo County Office of Education (SMCOE) won $500,000 from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation to expand its work to prepare dual language learners for success through family engagement support services. SMCOE was one of 30 grantees nationwide!

We’re proud to have assisted with all these successful applications and to support such big strategic planning efforts to improve education in California. Congratulations and thank you to all our clients!
