Testimonials

Nancy E. O’Malley | District Attorney | Alameda County

“I have known and worked with Glen Price for almost fifteen years on a variety of successful projects that have secured millions of dollars for highly innovative social service programs. Glen and his team at the Glen Price Group are consummate professionals and the quality of their work is phenomenal.

In 2004, the Alameda County District Attorney’s office brought together a coalition of public and private partners to compete for a Family Justice Center grant from the United States Department of Justice. Once we won the grant and were on our way, we asked the Glen Price Group (GPG) to assist us with the necessary strategic planning that would help us launch Northern California’s first one-stop center providing services to victims of domestic violence.

Through a dynamic and highly engaging process, the GPG team helped our collaborative develop strong partnership bonds and coalesce around a strategic implementation plan that is now guiding our efforts. I can’t imagine a team that could have better handled the often delicate and competing needs of our partners than the Glen Price Group. Throughout the entire process they displayed outstanding professionalism, incredible facilitation skills, and a commitment to extremely high-quality product. We are now working with them to design and implement a fundraising plan for the Family Justice Center that will target a variety of public and private funding streams. I would enthusiastically recommend them for any work involving strategic planning, resource development, or any combination of the two. They are absolutely the best!”

Gerald Anderson | Senior Director, Tsunami Recovery Program | American Red Cross

“Responding to the tragedy of the December 26, 2004 tsunami, the American Red Cross mobilized rapidly, providing immediate relief to survivors. With attention subsequently focused on long-term recovery efforts, the American Red Cross needed to develop a strategic plan to guide the work of its Tsunami Recovery Program (TRP), ensuring maximum effectiveness, and the highest possible impact of its work.

We turned to the Glen Price Group (GPG) to assist us in the design and help facilitate the development of a strategic plan. Building on their skillful use of Appreciative Inquiry techniques, GPG created a process that effectively involved our country level delegations and headquarters staff. The result is a “strategic implementation plan” that not only provides a strategic direction for the program, but also includes an “accountability framework” that clearly defines how we will evaluate our success, and an annual work plan.

The great thing is that, as opposed to gathering dust on a shelf, this work continues to provide the basis for TRP programming and planning.

I am also aware that GPG has assisted several important TRP partners, including the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Wildlife Fund with meeting and retreat facilitation and strategic planning activities. I have received consistently excellent reports regarding this work, often executed in challenging situations.”

Grant Davis | Executive Director | Bay Institute

“The Campaign for Tolay Lake Regional Park was a classic example of how multiple public agencies, community-based organizations, and private citizens can work together. The net result was the acquisition by the County of Sonoma of the 1,769-acre Cardoza Ranch, for what will become the county’s largest regional park. The Glen Price Group (GPG) played a significant support role in this effort as our diverse team came together to engage in multiple levels of fundraising required in order to realize our goals over a very compressed time frame.

On the basis of extensive community interviews, the GPG team brought together a campaign team and provided it with excellent resources including proposals, letters, brochures, and other collateral material. All members of the GPG team were responsive, positive, and professional even during some of the most stressful moments of the campaign. They facilitated weekly conference calls that served as one of the major means of communication linking and coordinating all of the major stakeholders in this effort. GPG helped to provide the essential glue and positive encouragement that helped all of us stay focused.

Utilizing their extensive contacts with Bay Area political leaders, including State Senate President pro Tem Don Perata and others, GPG helped support key advocacy efforts that were instrumental in securing millions of dollars in public support for the campaign. Their proposal to the California Cultural and Historical Endowment (CCHE) was one of the better proposals I have seen. Although it was not funded, CCHE staff informed us that the proposal was of extremely high quality and that they chose to prioritize development activities over acquisition programs during their first round of funding. The CCHE proposal served as the wellspring for many of the other documents put together during the course of the campaign including websites, presentations, other public sector and foundation proposals, and a variety of other uses. It was of tremendous benefit to the Campaign for Tolay Lake Regional Park that the county provided their services to us. I know that the GPG team went above and beyond their contracted responsibilities for this project, donating many hours of service. The County of Sonoma is extremely fortunate to be contracting with a firm of such high integrity, professionalism, and outstanding commitment to public service. These values were reflected in everything that they did for the Tolay campaign and I hope that we have the opportunity to work together in the future.”

Chief Vern Losh | County of Sonoma Department of Emergency Services

“The County of Sonoma Department of Emergency Services (DES) has benefited tremendously from the work and support of the Glen Price Group (GPG). Several of our staff members, particularly those involved with grant development and management have attended their training programs and found them to be of huge benefit. Our internal grant seeking ability has definitely improved as a result of this training and we were able to secure several grants based, in part, on the capacity our staff gained from GPG workshops.

During 2005, we also had the opportunity to work with GPG on several important proposals. This past winter, GPG worked with DES and our partner fire departments from throughout Sonoma County to submit a proposal to the Department of Homeland Security for improved radio communications equipment. This equipment is urgently needed to ensure that all departments can communicate effectively in the event of emergencies.

Submission of this proposal required GPG to work collaboratively with not only with the staff of my department, but also with leaders of fire departments from throughout the county, integrating a wide variety of needs into a single persuasive proposal. Throughout this process, GPG staff provided extremely professional services, building confidence and trust among participating fire departments. The final product was of excellent quality. At this time, we have received preliminary indications from the Department of Homeland Security that our proposal is being actively considered for funding.

Recently, on very short notice, the Glen Price Group assisted DES to submit a second proposal to the Department of Homeland Security, which will enable us, if funded, to provide critical support services to the 14 volunteer fire departments we are serving in CSA # 40, particularly in regard to volunteer recruitment and retention. Although there was an extremely tight turnaround, Glen Price and his team helped us turn in an excellent proposal, which I am sure will be very competitive. Throughout that process, and in all of our dealings with GPG, they have been incredibly responsive, shown tremendous commitment to helping us achieve our goals, and most importantly, produced very high quality proposals.

I should add that the GPG team has established very positive working relationships with many of my department’s staff members. This is of huge benefit as we work together in a very competitive environment to secure the resources we need to serve the community.”

Gay Plair Cobb | Chief Executive Officer | Oakland Private Industry Council, Inc.

“In late 2004, the Oakland Private Industry Council (PIC) was facing a tremendous challenge. Two contracts, representing over $3 million dollars in revenue to our organization were precipitously put out to bid. The RFPs were extremely demanding and very rigorous, requiring the PIC to think in many new ways about its core operations and work processes. We contracted with the Glen Price Group (GPG) to help us with not only the production of the two proposals, but in rethinking several of our approaches to this work. Their team did an outstanding job – the proposals came through the competitive process vying with submissions from several private sector firms as the top rated applications. We subsequently contracted with them to engage in a process of strategic implementation planning, helping the PIC and its partners to develop a common plan that will enable us to respond effectively to significant new workforce challenges in our community. Their ability to bring together diverse partners and personalities throughout these processes has been outstanding. We are now approaching the future with solid funding, renewed optimism, and a strong plan for realizing some very significant outcomes for our community.”

Dr. Gail Ward | Director, Early Childhood Education Programs |University of California, Berkeley

“Glen Price’s commitment to quality and helping us achieve our goals was evident throughout the time he worked with us. He developed an outstanding proposal for the expansion of our services to student parents that enabled us to secure federal funds in a highly competitive process. His capacity to develop a wonderful proposal concept, ability to work with diverse partners, and writing and budgeting skills were really top-notch.”

Dell Jacoby | Training Manager, Human Resources Department | County of Sonoma

“When the Training division began development of grantwriting courses with the Glen Price Group, I expected that we would receive basic instruction on proposal preparation and funding source identification. What we received was so much more! Glen and his team brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to our workshops, building upon our varying levels of knowledge to develop our capacity to successfully develop proposals in a market that is growing more and more competitive as government funding becomes more difficult to obtain.

Over a period of three years, the Glen Price Group has continued to develop new courses that address emerging issues and trends in the grants world, including our recent workshop focusing on collaborative proposals between the County and community based organizations. Response to these proposal preparation courses has been extremely positive and always rank among the highest evaluated by our participants. It is this innovative and responsive approach to developing our staff that has made our collaboration with the Glen Price Group a successful one.”

Paul Lamb | Board of Directors | Street Tech

“The Glen Price Group’s proven ability to conceptualize complex program areas and bring together individuals and organizations toward common objectives has indisputably helped Street Tech. Through their work we have competed successfully for Department of Education, Hewlett Foundation, and Department of Labor Funds.”

Program Funding Planning and Advanced Proposal Strategies

“Thank you so much for your excellent trainings on program funding and proposal writing. I appreciated the thoroughness and practicality of the 2 sessions I attended. It was incredibly valuable to hear your “best practices” and see examples of proposals. Keep up the good work!

GPG is excellent – they give their heart & soul and really know their stuff!! More people should have the opportunity to learn this!! Great resource.

These workshops are excellent crash courses for County employees who have no experience in grant writing. I feel that I am now prepared to write a successful grant and in addition, my strategizing and organizational skills have improved, which will benefit my non-grant related work.”

Intermediate Proposal Development

“This workshop is absolutely invaluable! Wish I could get this group to come talk to our service providers too! Great tools for both writing & teaching others to write!

Thank you! A comprehensive workshop that was informative and has encouraged me to learn more. I can’t wait for the advanced course.”
