GPG facilitators utilize a variety of participatory techniques designed to strengthen partnership and collaborative bonds. We often employ the process of Appreciative Inquiry (AI), a collaborative, strengths-based approach for bringing about positive change in businesses and corporations, communities, educational, governmental, and nonprofit organizations. AI helps participants heighten their energy, sharpen their vision, and inspire their action for change.
Many of Glen Price’s and GPG’s outstanding strategic planning and campaign successes have involved multiple agency and/or public/private partnerships. Key successes have included:
- New work in 2011!: Leading a strategic planning process for the California Department of Education including the formation of a 55-member Transition Advisory Team, a Department-wide peer interview process, and two full-day in-person planning meetings with Department staff.
- Designing the planning process and launch of two SparkPoint centers in west and east Contra Costa County, convening local service providers to develop an innovative strategy incorporating integrated, co-located services to help low-income families move towards financial self-sufficiency.
- Supporting the development of the CARE-WWF Strategic Alliance through designing and facilitating regional meetings, arranging global team calls, assisting with the development of regional communication systems, and supporting the collaborative development of a vision, theory of change, and guiding principles for the Alliance.
- Working with the American Red Cross to develop a strategic implementation plan for their Tsunami Recovery Program, including framing a strategic direction, an accountability framework, and detailed annual plans for international operations and country programs in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.
- Assisting a public/private partnership to launch and successfully conclude a multi-faceted campaign to secure 1,737 acres of open space for a regional park; and
- Designing and supporting a strategic planning process involving over 50 public and private organizations to launch an innovative Family Justice Center providing one-stop services to victims of domestic violence in Alameda County.
- Providing strategic planning and launch preparation support for Family Justice Centers in Oakland, Sonoma County, Solano County, New Orleans, Shasta County, and Yolo County
