- Grant writer and developer for a variety of clients including local government, community-based organizations, and higher education institutions. Active in all phases of grant development, including assessment of potential funding opportunities, program conceptualization, partnership development, meeting facilitation, proposal writing, and grant management. Developed proposals for the Department of Labor, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the Department of Homeland Security, and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, among others. Currently the primary GPG associate responsible for work with the City of Richmond, California.

- Developed and fostered opportunities for over 1000 students per year to take part in service and learning through engagement with community-based organizations and local government. Collaborated closely with community partners to create mutually beneficial relationships with the college’s faculty, staff and students. Connected community-based research courses to community organizations, resulting in valuable data that assisted in their strategic planning. Consulted with academic faculty to develop community-based learning pedagogy and identify sites linked to specific courses. Trained and mentored student leaders whose campus role was to mobilize fellow students for service and social action.

- Responsible for administrative and academic leadership of an off-campus study program intended to increase the civic and social engagement of liberal arts undergraduates. Planned and administered an annual budget of $450,000. Worked closely with campus departments to insure provision of high-quality housing, food-service and information technology services for students. Organized the hiring, supervision and evaluation of two full-time faculty members and two support staff. Successfully guided the process of securing support, locating, purchasing and renovating a permanent program facility in the city of San Francisco. Created and led an advisory board consisting of members with significant roles in community partner organizations, engaging them as effective advocates for the program with college administration and the local community. Linked work of program to the community by hosting meetings of the local neighborhood association in the program facility, inviting community members to present to students and faculty, and consulting with community leaders about program design and content. Collaborated with faculty colleagues to integrate community-based learning experiences throughout the curriculum and co-curriculum of the program. Designed and taught an innovative social ethics course to 25 students each semester.

- Served as an eight-year faculty member of the Public Policy Institute at UC Davis, teaching facilitation of democratic dialogue to over 200 people, including public officials, educators and community activists. Facilitation process based on the National Issues Forum model of the Kettering Foundation. Facilitator for community deliberation in numerous Bay Area Communities through the Common Ground Project. Project consultant for KQED live counterpart to online dialogue program “You Decide.” Facilitator for public dialogue program on Social Security Reform, Goldman School of Policy, UC Berkeley.

- Provided academic and administrative oversight for a one semester study program for liberal arts undergraduates. Created full academic program, including course development, supervision and evaluation of internships, and student mentoring. Hired and supervised two adjunct faculty, including the socialist former mayor of the city.
