Developed, implemented, and integrated innovative capital campaign, strategic planning, and professional development strategies, and programs for the American Red Cross, World Wildlife Fund, United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, County of Sonoma, and others.
Vice President, YMCA of the East Bay – Oakland, California

Led program and financial development efforts resulting in long–term $2.6 million annual program expansion in core and new business operations and over $5.6 million in multi–year program commitments. Developed collaborative partnerships involving corporate, university, county government, school district, and non–profit members. Lead writer and team leader for successful grant applications and contract bids to the United States Department of Education, William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, California Department of Health Services, and the California Department of Education.
Led repositioning of volunteer and staff efforts to raise annual contributed support resulting in 36% financial growth and significant increase in board, volunteer, and member involvement. Primary staff liaison to donors and estate attorneys committing and transferring $7.8 million in planned gifts.

Led five successful school bond and parcel tax campaigns resulting in $900 million dollars in capital funds and $15 million in annual operating funds. Campaigns united a five–city urban and suburban school district that had not previously passed a finance measure in over 30 years. Measures passed with 67.5%, 75%, 72%, 71%, and 77% supermajorities respectively. Developed overall campaign strategies including ground, direct mail, and media activities. Mobilized community and elected official advocacy efforts to gain State Allocation Board approval for 100% financing of new school construction.
Key leader and convener of community–based advocacy effort to reduce previously incurred district indebtedness to the state of California resulting in passage of AB 2265 and corresponding debt reduction of $4 million dollars during 2000 legislative session.
Hired new Superintendent of Schools and supported launch of strategic planning and academic reform effort resulting in significant increases in standardized test scores.

Led staff and volunteer efforts responsible for significant increases in contributed and grant support including repositioning of two major special events: the Service to Youth Award and the CYO–Joe Montana Golf Tournament. Designed strategy and implemented successful capital campaign, The Campaign for Children and Youth. Lead writer and team leader for successful submission and execution of a Kresge Foundation Challenge Grant as well as substantial corporate, foundation, and individual gifts.

Developed and implemented strategic plans for resource development including a comprehensive fund raising effort, The Freedom from Hunger Investment and Financial Development Plan, and an innovative major donor effort, The Breakthrough Campaign, tied to agency’s strategic plan. As component of strategic plan, implemented direct mail marketing effort incorporating both donor acquisition and resolicitation activities, building program from pilot stage to capacity, distributing one million direct mail pieces.
Lead writer and team leader for development and successful submission of grant and contract applications for the United States Agency for International Development, UNICEF, IFAD, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Built communications links between 95 national members, 7 regional offices, and Executive Office in Brussels, Belgium including publication development, enhancing press and media coverage, and telecommunications systems.
