Yesterday, the United States Department of Education announced the winners of Phase 2 Race to the Top competition and our heartfelt congratulations go out to the ten award recipients. Unfortunately, California was not among these although it submitted a very innovative proposal building on the vision and know-how of local school districts. We’re confident that California’s never-give-up commitment to students will prevail again and that the building blocks that led to the development of its Round 2 proposal will be used as the basis for future state and local reform efforts.
