The City of Richmond has received a grant award of $50,000 from the Economic Development Administration (EDA) to support the preparation of a Green Business Development Plan for the city. The Plan will be created for the purpose of expanding the growth of green businesses in the City of Richmond and cultivating strategic investment and business partners in adjacent Contra Costa and Alameda Counties. The plan includes the following objectives:
- Create conditions that support new and emerging green businesses;
- Strengthen business development programs that promote green technology innovations; and
- Support local employment development opportunities in emerging green businesses.
While the amount of the grant is relatively small, it is anticipated that this award, and the activities connected with it, will enable Richmond to pursue much larger amounts of funding from the EDA in the future. The Glen Price Group played a significant role in what proved to be a challenging application process for this funding.
