Sonoma County Family Justice Center receives $400,000 from the Office of Violence Against Women

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

The Office of Violence Against Women (OVW) recently awarded $400,000 to Sonoma County through its Grants to Encourage Arrest Policies Program. The grant will support the on-going development and implementation of a Sonoma County Family Justice Center (SCFJC). The primary focus of the SCFJC is to provide victims of domestic violence with comprehensive and culturally competent law enforcement, health, and victims services at a single location.

In addition to this grant, the SCFJC has received a $300,000 grant from The California Endowment and a $500,000 contribution from an anonymous individual donor. The SCFJC has also been selected as a participating site for the California Family Justice Initiative to aid in the development of best practices and model protocols, and to provide consistent, documentable service delivery. The Glen Price Group is pleased to have contributed to the development of the successfully funded OVW and California Endowment proposals and to continue our work with  Sonoma County Family Justice Center stakeholders in their strategic planning process and on future development opportunities.

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

The City of Richmond has received a grant award of $50,000 from the Economic Development Administration (EDA) to support the preparation of a Green Business Development Plan for the city. The Plan will be created for the purpose of expanding the growth of green businesses in the City of Richmond and cultivating strategic investment and business partners in adjacent Contra Costa and Alameda Counties. The plan includes the following objectives:

  • Create conditions that support new and emerging green businesses;
  • Strengthen business development programs that promote green technology innovations; and
  • Support local employment development opportunities in emerging green businesses.

While the amount of the grant is relatively small, it is anticipated that this award, and the activities connected with it, will enable Richmond to pursue much larger amounts of funding from the EDA in the future.
