San Leandro Unified School District Receives $2.3 Million for After School Programs

The San Leandro Unified School District has learned that the City’s two high schools, San Leandro High and Lincoln High, will receive a total of $2.3 million in funding over a period of five years from the California Department of Education to develop innovative after school programming for their students.  These grants are a result of the submission of a successful 21st Century Community Learning Center proposal by the district, with the active assistance of the Glen Price Group, supported by the Bay Area Partnership.

Programs include: tutoring in math and English to help students prepare for the California High School Exit Exam; intensive mentoring for at-risk young men; career technical education in law, the health sciences and industrial arts; a peer health education program for young women; and provisions for access for students with special needs.

Over the past eight years, the Glen Price Group has collaborated with the Bay Area Partnership for Children and Youth, an outstanding education advocacy and support organization, to help local school districts develop 21 Century Community Learning Center Proposals.  The result has been over $67 million dollars in funding for after school programs serving students and families in priority communities throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

Congratulations to the San Leandro Unified School District for their successful application in one of the most competitive 21st Century funding cycles in recent memory!
