The City of Richmond was one of six organizations to win recent grants from the state of California’s WIA 15% fund under the Growth Industries—High Wage, High Skill Job Training category. In making the announcement, Victoria Bradshaw, Secretary of the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency noted, “With these grants, workers in a wide range of industries in California will be able to develop the skills they need to obtain high-wage jobs and contribute to the state’s growing economy.” The City of Richmond’s grant application seeks to provide pre-apprenticeship construction training for older youth and adults, and displaced workers in the City of Richmond in order to meet employer demand for high-skilled workers in the construction industry in Richmond and the East Bay Region. The Glen Price Group is working with the City of Richmond to establish a citywide grant seeking program that includes grant research utilizing the Grants Locator system from eCivis.com and assistance with grant proposal development.
