Congratulations to the West Contra Costa Unified School District and the For the Children of West County political action committee for a victory on November 8 for the Measure J school bond measure. Measure J’s approval will result in a much-needed investment of $400 million in critical school repairs and reconstruction work!
The United States Department of Homeland Security announced on Friday, November 4, that the County of Sonoma Department of Emergency Services was awarded a “Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response” (SAFER) grant in the amount of $271,500. The DES grant is one of five awarded in California and one of 100 awarded nationally. The award will enable DES to support Volunteer Fire Companies within Sonoma County with a vigorous volunteer recruitment and retention campaign.
