Kudos to the West Oakland Asthma Coalition! The East Bay Community Foundation is helping fund a new position - a Spanish speaking outreach worker. Children living in West Oakland are seven times more likely to be hospitalized for asthma than children anywhere else in California. The health educator will contact and educate the nearly 2,525 Spanish-speaking residents of West Oakland to help reduce the incidence of asthma-related hospitalizations of vulnerable Spanish speaking West Oakland children.
